I'm trying to decide whether or not to get a nose piercing? I'm scared it will hurt and I'm also worried it will get infected. Personal experiences, tips and products to prevent infection would be greatly appreciated :)

Okay, I've had my nose on each side done three times in the last few years and as far as pain goes, the worst part for me was when they actually put the Jewelry in, it'll be over quickly though. Go to a reputable piercer, don't let anyone with a piercing gun do it, make sure it's done with a needle. You can't wear a ring while your piercing is healing (just a heads up, Incase that's what you were planning on getting pierced with) because it makes the piercing heal in a way where it'll be more difficult in the long run to wear a normal stud.
As for preventing infection, don't fiddle with it and try not to move it as much as possible. I clean all my piercings with a salt saline solution twice daily for about 3-4 weeks, until you notice it's healing properly. When cleaning try not to move it around too much, and my last tip is be really careful washing your face and drying your face, etc; I had my nose stud get caught on a towel a few times forgetting they were there and it's not pleasant lol. Don't take your piercing out until it's healed, they close very quickly and unless you have a very high pain tolerance it can make It hard to get it back in during the first 1-2 months.

Ashley: I pierced with a ring and really recommend it
Shaye: definitely do not pierce with a ring

I really don't see a problem with it, as long as the section that goes through is straight.

When I got mine done I thought it'd hurt also but it didn't it was just a small pinch then it was kinda sore. The less you worry about it hurting the less it will hurt tbh. Also, it shouldn't get infected as long as you clean it twice a day and take good care of it. If it comes out while it's healing still it will be really hard to put back in though, it happened to me. I put a regular earring through the hole then after a million times I finally forced it in. It was covered in blood the next morning but it never got infected I guess I was just lucky, but try not to take it out until it's healed. Also when you're washing your face I'd suggest splashing your face with water instead of using a cloth because my piercing got caught on a towel once and it hurt really bad and almost came out again. You can clean it with a salt solution but I clean mine with antibacterial soap and it works just as well. Btw- judging by your pictures I think a nose piercing would suit you very well(:

@Kat, the reason most piercers suggest against it is because the piercing doesn't tend to heal "straight" when it has a ring in to begin with, it curves the piercing to fit the ring it just makes it a bit harder to get a straight stud in if you ever wanted to wear it. I'm just saying what I've learnt lol.

I was really scared to get a nose piercing as well.

1st Tip - DONT read horror stories on google. None of them are true or are highly unlikely.

2nd - Getting your nose pierced hurts less than getting your eyebrows waxed. Literally you'll be shocked how painless it is. It bleeds a bit at first but literally a drop you can wipe away.

3rd - The only thing that hurts for a few days at first the healing process , though it's bearable. Clean it regularly and don't change the stud for at least 3 months and you'll be fine! Best thing I ever got was my nose piercing!!

And make sure to get an L shape so it doesn't grow around and it's definitely the most comfortable. The screws hurt and your nose grows around the straight ones

I have my nose pierced, it honestly didn't really hurt. I cleaned it with sea salt and water. I won't lie when they stick the needle through your eyes will probably tear , but that's a natural reaction when something like that happens to the nose your eyes will tear. Like I said though the pain is minimal

Mine healed in a couple months. I didn't do any special salt washes or anything. I just washed it when I showered. It healed quick and perfect. I did the same with my belly piercing and it healed so quick. Don't ever over due the cleaning. Soap and water is enough.
