Okay so mostly all you see on BL is yay or nay questions ( I don't have a problem with the or anything ) but I think we should interact more so... Let's have a debate...

I don't think It matters why other wear makeup, be it covering up flaws, enhancing features, etc.. I personally like to enhance my features, mainly eyes and lips. I do wear face makeup to cover up my scars, why lie!

I think it's fine to wear makeup to coverup flaws, some people are very insecure about their skin. but people also shouldn't be ashamed of how they look.

I do wear it to cover flaws and to boost my self esteem since its gone down in the recent years. I do agree we don't interact anymore well me personally since they took the off topic section I think that is were we talked the most and I just pop in when I see an interesting thread.

I wear makeup to cover up my acne scars. I don't see anything wrong with covering up flaws. It makes me more confident.

I think it's good for people to cover up their flaws if they are insecure about them! Some people don't have any main flaws so they wear makeup to enhance their natural beauty.
I didn't know there used to be a topic section for random stuff. I wish they still had it because it's so nice to make new friends and talk with people about real life stuff

This is very interesting... I used to have very nice skin, smooth, even, warm, small pores.. everything. But, I also used to wear a lot of makeup. I wasnt comfortable with myself and I believe it manifested in to me wearing a lot of makeup ( I would say teenage years early twenties) Now I have developed melasma that looks spotty and like I have a mustache, I still have nice skin otherwise, but it doesn't matter. All I desperately want now, is to not need makeup. I even cover up my spots, which still look funky and wear no other makeup. I am much much more confident in myself, but the mustache brings me down big time and I feel I new to cover the flaws.

I don't see any problem with a little enhancement or an expression of personal style. But honestly it really bugs me to see someone wearing so much makeup that I wouldn't recognize them if they took it off. There's a difference between a "full face" of makeup and a "new face" of makeup. I love makeup, wether it's natural or bold, but I think that you should still look like yourself with it on. Why try to look like anyone but you?:)

And I agree guys! I liked the off topic section. The new regulations are kind of a bummer.

Erica that's so distressing!:( my mom got melasma from being pregnant with me, and I'm pretty sure the only makeup she wears is just to cover her skin too :/

Tbh, I wear making just for fun. I do have acne scarring, but idc. If I want to wear makeup, I do, and if I don't, I won't. I like to sometimes to enhance my features. If people do it because of scarring, or to hide something, it's perfectly ok. It helps people with self esteem sometimes, or it just helps them deal with it, and there's nothing wrong with that. If covering it up makes you happy or feel better, who cares? If it makes you happy do it. That's all that matters isnt it?

Cover up your flaws that's fine but if your trying to cover up break outs it will only get worse with makeup

Yeah I love you answer. Everyone wears makeup for their own reasons some of us wear to look pretty and cover up things others of us sometimes we just wear it for the heck of it. So I guess it's a win win for everyone either way :)

That's all me. I use to wear so much cover up that it looked caked on. I think for me I feel more confident when my flaws are covered. Some may call it shallow. But my acne prevents me sometimes from enjoying going out. So I do love that make up and beauty has helped me a lot. It's okay to cover but it shouldn't change the person you are.

It's no concern to me how much makeup people wear. I will be honest, some of you may remember how I have mentioned quite a few times that I have a medical condition that gives me extra androgen and because of it, I have a beard. A full beard that I have to shave everyday.

I wear foundation to cover it up because it is something I don't like to see. Now I do go out of the house without any foundation on and I feel fine. I use to be terrified that people would make fun of me but I know now that no one cares and if they do, that is their problem and I will not concern myself with such nonsense.

As mentioned above, there are many reasons why people wear makeup and it's like me doing my nails, it's a hobby, it's therapeutic, and I enjoy it. I do get a little sad when I see girls and women putting their self worth into their outer appearance. I'm sad for them because it is sad to know they think that's all they are worth and I will lend some loving words their way.

So really, yes we do wear makeup to cover up imperfections but most of the time, it isn't a mask we hide behind, just something we do for ourselves.
