we wear make up for a variety of reasons.
some wear it to *enhance* And others to cover up/*make* yourself pretty.
so it really just depends on which category you're in??

I agree with her completely. I'll use an example of myself- I don't use face makeup at all but I do wear mascara but I could go out without it. It's not terrible. I'm not some different creature without makeup. But with mascara it brightens my eyes. Therefor I'm not masking myself, more as defining what's already there. That's what I think makeup does for a lot of people.
I think guys opinions are even worse. They want girls without makeup but when they aren't a lot (not all, I've met some down to earth guys) will say girls are ugly without it. They say women are deceiving and whatnot. I don't do makeup for the approval of boys, I mostly do it for myself. Gives me a sense of self expression, creativity and yes some self esteem. That's a good thing. Girls deserve to feel happy.

Personally, I agree and definitely think that it depends on the person. I used to cover my whole face in makeup when I had severe acne, and my self esteem was so low I thought I could never go out without makeup. Eventually I got over it and realized that makeup is for me! My acne is now cleared (which helps) but I now wear minimal makeup or makeup to make ME happy. I know a friend who similarly used makeup to first "hide herself" but after a long time she now wears a full face of makeup because she wants to, not because she has to. She loves the feeling it gives but she does not ever feel forced to wear it. She actually confided in me once that doing hours of makeup makes her feel less stressed and very happy. She now is so good that she does professional makeup while still in high school. It just goes to show that makeup can be used in a variety of different ways. I just hope more teens and women realize that makeup can be for themselves to express and have fun instead of feeling forced and anxious about the way they look! Never give into conventional conceptions of beauty!! We are all perfect in our own ways!

All I have to say is whether we wear it for fun or for confidence it shouldn't really matter. If it makes you feel confident wearing a whole bunch of products on your face or just mascara and lip balm then be it. I mean who doesn't want to feel confident about themselves??

We wear make up for many different reasons it really doesn't matter if you can go some wear without wearing make good for you of you can't that's fine to I'm not saying that there isn't a line that draws to much make up but you should be able to be who you want to be feel confident about your self and really who cares what other people think as long as you are happy about your self does it really matter sometimes it's even just fun to wear make up.

I think it definitely does for some girls, you'll know who they are because they complain about how long makeup takes to put on (not meant in a bad way, they just don't enjoy it)
For me it doesn't. I spend an hour doing my makeup because I love applying it and trying new things. Its not a chore for me, its a hobby. I don't need it to leave the house but, unless I'm going to the gym or the shop, I feel like I'm not put together without it, its like the feeling of not wearing a bra out for me lol. I love makeup and I certainly don't spend the crazy amount of money I spend on it so that people will think I look cute haha I sit in my house doing my makeup for an hour and a half just to rub it off again. I just really enjoy creating a face haha

Yay! I'm happy to see this up. I didn't expect it to go up tonight but it makes me happy nevertheless.
But seriously, I just don't understand that logic! I think it's a guy standpoint that some girls have just let it get in there heads. It just doesn't make sense to me at all! Or to some other makeup wearers. It's like clothes or an accessory. Just because I put on say, a bra doesn't mean I'm ashamed of my natural breast shape. Get real lol. It's just a little fixer upper. I think it's more of an outsider thing. They just don't understand. Makeup isn't just a crutch. To all those people who think it is, I'm just like put on some lipstick and feel happy lol.

To me makeup helps my self esteem 100% I feel like when I wear makeup I look so good and beautiful and without it I hate looking in the mirror but do I wear it everyday? no I don't I don't wear makeup all that often so I show my bareface a lot and I don't really let the people who do see me know I don't like the way my face is without makeup though.
