My hair is dark brown with a tint of red to it. I want to dye it burgundy ish. I bought the LoReal Hi color dye in Magenta. Is 20 volume developer strong enough? its all I have.

I would think so. my hairdresser always use a 20 on my hair whenever I lighten my hair. plus It's less damaging then using a 30.

If your doing burgundy it shouldn't make any difference than you might have to leave it on a little bit longer.

Should be enough for burgundy.

Firstly, decide the level of your hair then the level of the burgundy you want.
20 volume lifts 2 levels. Also, it is very important to remember that color does not lift color. Meaning, that if you already have color on your hair, the end result will not be what you want.
Though, that depends on what shade burgundy.

Allie loreal hicolor lifts hair color while putting hair color in. :) It's meant for dark hair, and I've gone from black to bright red from it. I'd agree with you on any other dye but this dye does exactly that.
