I have been experiencing hormonal acne cysts on my jawline area for over two years now. I've gone to my dr countless times, and the gels/toners that he gives me just dry my skin out. I use a clarisonic and I am careful to use the right makeup products on my skin. This is so painful and tiring. I just want nice skin, but my acne is not severe enough for accutane, which is why I think my dr overlooks it. Help!

Have you ever tried any non-topical acne treatments, like mild oral antibiotics?

I have had the same problem with my hormonal acne. I was getting horrible breakouts and after trying a looot of different products I decided to try kiehls. The rare earth daily cleanser and toner cleared my skin of spots. it really really helped. They are always great for giving out samples so you can try it to see without wasting money :) Hope this helps!

I had the same problem. Have you tried the contraceptive pill? I went on it only for my acne and within a week it was clearing! You should try aqueous cream aswell! It's really cheap and it can be used as a face wash or a moisturiser. I swear by it!!

I use the nuva ring as birth control, I don't know if maybe it is causing my breakouts? What kind of oral antibiotics can you take for acne??

Brandy I am literally on the same boat as you right now! I have been taking loestrogen 24 fe but then they got rid of it and I changed to minastrin, I'm not sure if I need I switch birth control because I have been on those for a number of years so maybe my body is getting use to it?

But the loestrogen 24 fe did help out for years but all if a sudden I'm breaking out along my jawline as well.

Brandy I have taken monodox and solodyn but neither have helped and I was taking them for a numerous amount of months but my doctor said after a while the pills don't work, he gave me done face wash to try that's a prescription but I feel like nothing they give me is working, the pills did help for a couple of months but I still get breakours.

They have to be prescribed by a derm, but they could help with the problem.

Oral antibiotics will not work for your acne unless it's bacterial infected acne but you have hormonal acne therefore antibiotics will do nothing

And if you take oral antibiotics for your acne and contribute to the creAtion of antibiotic resistant drugs you can end up having antibiotic resistant acne and then be in a worse boat.

As well as, just FYI, oral antibiotics reduces the effectiveness of birth control significantly, that's how I got my beautiful daughter. Best thing that ever came out of having the flu and bronchitis :). Something to keep in mind.
