Can you have a layered hair cut if you have extensions?

I just got extensions and I'm finding them way too thick and bulky.
I'd love to be able to wear them straight some days but it seems like I need to perfectly curl them every day to have them look right.
It's just like it's too long and all 1 length.
My stylist doesn't want to cut them but I actually hate this.

You posted this question before and as I said then, I had the same problem as you and got them layered which completely changes the look from blunt thick unnatural looking ends to natural, soft, moveable hair that looks normal when it's straight.
