Smoky eye for beginners.

I've been doing makeup for a year now (proper makeup) LOL I'm only 14 anyway, I can do basic makeup and all that but I can't do a smoky eye every time I try it just fails, Erugh please help pictures would be helpful along with tips and tricks thanks. X.

What helped me get the hang of it was starting with a light color in the upper crease and slowly building the intensity of the color the farther down onto the lid I got. If that made any sense lol.

Actually I must respectfully disagree with a portion of what Alexis C. said... The eyeliner is a crucial factor in creating a successful smokey eye. Now Jackie even said, I believe, that it can make or break the look.

You will want to use it as a base of sorts... Apply it on your lid, and the blend, blend, and blend until their are no harsh lines. Then apply your shadows. Darkest on lid, lighter slightly overlapping and then above, and then lightest the same... etc... So yeah, you will not have a winged line in a traditional smokey eye, but their is eyeliner.

My tip for blending, this at least works for me... When blending I position my hand slightly above my eyebrow and hold my brush at a downward angle meeting my eye... Idk it just works better for me, it eliminates harsh lines, and forces me to use a lighter hand. And shoot, with all the time I spend on doing makeup, it has to be good for the muscles in my arms. lol!:)))) I would ask one of the mods if you feel that you need further explaining, etc..
