Ok so I've been dying my hair light blonde with years, the last two years just root touch ups every six weeks. Now I want to go platinum so is it safe to dye over my already lightened hair? And should I do a toot touch up before or after? Thanks!!

If you are going platinum I think you should have a salon do it, it will be safest for your hair!

If you've been dying your hair yourself then I think you're okay. Especially since you've been doing it for two years.
My advice is that you deeply condition your hair, with coconut oil to minimize damage :) if your roots are already as light as the rest of your hair then I don't think you need to touch up. If not, I'd just suggest doing a root touch up AFTER. Because youll be dying your whole head its better to fix your roots after being theyll take to the bleach or dye the fastest versus your already light hair :)

It's not that I don't think you can do it your self, I was hom dying my hair for 10 years, but when I went platinum I still went to a salon to be sure my result was even! Especially since I was already very very light blond! My salon did a great job, but here is what happened to me. After about 6 months of being platinum I wanted a change so I put bright red in it and it was lovely but after only few months I was sick af the maintenance of it, it lost the brightness to quickly. So I decided to go back to platinum and I decided to do it myself... Well my hair fell off... I literally lost half my hair, I had to cut it a very short Bob... I just don't want you to go through the same, platinum is a hard a difficult color to achieve and it's very hard on your hair!

I agree with Sabrina. For platinum I would go to a salon. Purely for evenness. My sister dyed her hair herself all the time, for probably around 10 years. She was a dirty to light-medium blonde for 5 years or so and wanted to go platinum. She ended up having to pay double what she would have at a salon because it damaged more than a salon would and it was so uneven since her hair lifted at different rates. She had to get parts of her hair done, and a huge hair cut to get rid of her gummy ends.

Completely agree with you that it can be very dangerous doing it yourself! luckily mine turned out fine I used a loreal colour and added argan oil after...
