Can you post a picture of your natural hair?
If you have thin hair don't get V shape.

Honestly I have the same problem. I have tonnnns of hair, and each strand is thick. I found that to thin out the middle layers instead of the bottom and top which is what they usually do eliminates a ton of frizz and just gives you more volume.
Definitely get layers though, or it'll be to thick and to hot on the bottom. And the v shape does help with heat in the front but It might make your hair really short if your going collarbone length.

Tell the hairdresser you want layers and also to cut it into a v-shape at the ends - that usually helps with my hair but mine is fine instead of thick but this cut I think looks most flattering on wavy hair and allows the waves to lay nicely.

Use a leave in conditioner on damp hair it helps! I have?the same problem I hate showing my natural hair so I flat iron and curl it but it just damages my hair even more but using a leave in conditioner helps keep my curls moisturized :)

I have the same hair trust me I know it can be a real bitch to deal with some times. But one thing I learned to avoid frizz is not using towels for drying your hair. The towel creates a lot of friction and creates frizz in hair. So what I usually do is use a shirt or paper towels. I don't really do the paper towels unless I'm desperate but that's a waste of them so I usually just use a regular shirt. A shirt that you really don't care about or sleep in or something. Hope I helped!
