2) does it look better on the side or on top of the head?

Wow, I wish mine would come out like that. Whenever I try to do it it just turns into a huge mess hahah. I think both looks good although I think a donut bun looks better at the top of the head

It looks really great! I never used to be able to get mine to turn out that nice! My recommendation would be moving it to the top of you head. I like that style much better than the side or bottom of the head. But it's all up to you!
