1. I wash my face every night with a neutrogena stress facial wash and it made my face clear up a lot!

2. A few times a week I started using a exfoliator to clean up my scars now that my face is cleared up.

3. I started using a tiny amount of my old face wash in the morning in the shower because I get really oily at night.

- when I started step 2, and 3 something made my face start breaking out again );

4. Before my make up I use Proactive- the lotion,(I've used it a long time, I'm sure it's not the problem) along with a sunscreen moisturizer.

-I've had a lot of stress lately, but I usually always do do I don't know what the problem is. What do you think?):

It is impossible to exfoliate with a wash. It needs to stay on your skin, it's like putting on cream and then washing it off. A BHA is supposed to penetrate deep into the pores to properly exfoliate.. leaving it on for a couple of seconds does nothing because it does not absorb.
Do you have the ingredients of the wash and what you are using to exfoliate in #2?

Here Kitty, your first question. & at the top it says "Inactive Ingredient: Salicylic Acid 2%"

Here's the answer to the second, what I use for #2.

The menthol in your wash will irritate your skin, which whether you feel it or not can help contribute to break outs. Irritation triggers nerves ending in the pore which can activate hormones (androgen) and increase oil production which means more break outs. Does your face wash have a cooling tingly sensation? Thats a sign of irritation.

Your scrub is fine, I wouldn't use the glove thingy that comes with it. It already has beads so there's no need to even use the glove. And in terms of chemical exfoliation, both of them have very little Salicylic acid so besides the fact that it needs to actually stay on the skin to work, it contains very little of it.

Kitty, I don't believe I've ever felt that sensation with this product but I'll pay more attention tonight to see,... This is the first Target/Walmart product that has worked for me, at least that I thought. Do you have any experience with drugstore facial washes? Any suggestions?

As far as my exfoliator, if I may ask your advice, should I leave it on my skin longer before washing it off then?

Thank you so much, btw!

I know quite a few, what's your skin type?

Leaving it on much longer won't do too much, there's very little SA (less than a drop) so its not worth it. If you want a drug store BHA Exfoliant thats leave on, Neutrogena Rapid clear lotion is a BHA exfoliant ( its not a moisturizer ). It's non-comedogenic ( I know they feel a bit oily but they always do.. thats normal ) and it should really help with clogged pores.

Awesome thanks!!

My skin is pretty normal, I would say a little more on the oily side though.

The Olay Foaming face wash for sensitive skin, or the Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser are pretty close in ingredients to the product you use, so its not such a drastic change.

Make sure you use a lightweight moisturizer. When you use a so many products designed for oily skin, your skin can producing more oil to compensate for that which can cause breakouts. A simple lightweight moisturizer will prevent this and also won't make your skin greasy.

I use the nutrogena power cream wash too! its awesome! I don't reccomend the scrub though, its harsh.
