Also, what Diego said is so true. Never use bronzer to contour. You are creating a shadow essentially. It is best to use a taupe/ grey color since that mimics a natural shadow. Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder is great- even NYX taupe eyeshadow on a budget. Also, Smashbox makes great sculpting palettes that are extremely user friendly.

Diana nailed it! Only thing I will add is that when contouring try using a color with a cool undertone an when highlighting use either silver or gold according to your undertone.

Miss jaqueline explains it best it's actually a way to "contour" and "highlight" areas of the face to give the "ideal" face shape which is an oval face - so contouring n highlighting used the effects of shadows to recede certain areas and highlights to bring certain features forward - it should be tailored to your specific face shape and the colors you choose should be tailored to your skin color - hopefully she can give a better and more detailed explanation on what it is and how to properly do it.
