Diana is right... I ld suggest , don't use lemon alone. you should mix it with some rose water and even glycerine for moisturising. and don't go out in sun after using lemon on skin for about 2 hours.

Prone skin in theory - sorry I accidentally sent without finishing - but my point is that everyone's skin is different and will react differently to different substances and unfortunately without science to back anything up there really is no way to argue for or against anything when it comes to skin care.

Lemons themselves will not burn your skin unless it's broken (open sores) then it will sting - but when lemon mixes with UV radiation (namely from the sun) a chemical reaction occurs that causes a nasty chemical burn on the skin - so yes lemons are a bit acidic (but really the pH is around 3 and your skin ranges from 4-6 as well as water so it's not a huge difference compared to facial cleanser which is very basic usually at pH 9 or above) and a little acidity is good for those with acne prone skin since most people who are acne prone usually have a less acidic pH like 6 and making it a bit more acidic like 4 usually helps with acne - but really there is no scientific evidence to support or deny that lemons are good or bad for the face - you can argue the pH difference is something but it's really not a very good argument since people don't have a problem with putting something that is super basic on their face which is really worse for acne pr.

Ciera there is nothing wrong with wanting to use more natural things on your skin but some things serve no purpose or can damage your skin tee tree oil, natural oils ,black soap all great for your skin oatmeal mask fine but just because it's in your kitchen doesn't mean it's good for your skin

I've used lemon on very small pimples and my face has never burned and they go away very quickly and easily. However, I know I have to choose very carefully what to put lemon on and use it sparingly as it is very acidic. I've found that when it comes to certain ingredients it really just depends on your skin whether it's going to hurt your face or help or not.

Ciera just because it is natural does not make it good for you.
I understand you prefer to use 'natural' sources but if you want a natural spot treatment, I suggest tea tree oil.
This whole natural is the only answer charade is really bad misinformation and can yield very bad results. I already know that you will ignore any factual information posted regardless of whether it's me, or Traci because I have already basically written you an essay on why lemon/lime/citrus is bad for the skin REGARDLESS of whether it burns what it DOES to your skin and how it can be bad long term, and that there are other NATURAL options without such bad cons.

Please allow others to know that it in an opinion based on YOUR own BELIEFS, the last time someone went ahead and did one of these DIYS, no one told her that it was actually very bad for her skin and insisted it was good because it was 'natural'. All of the Beautylish skin care section ended up with pictures of girls burned faces that looked worse than any sunburn and lots of pain. I don't want to see that happening again and I hope you understand that there is more to it.

It definitely depends on the person. I've used it undiluted and it stung but it was tolerable for some it isn't. It depends on the person and the fact that lemons have different acidity levels. Not every lemon is exactly the same

My mom works with doctors and they all say it's bad it's too acidic for the skins outer layer

Because learning about the citric to the face is hard. You got so many people saying Its bad for your skin.. But you have DOCTORS who say its ok for your skin. Soooo is it with all people Traci or its with certain people that will get the burns or have hyperpigmentation.

Ciciii C.

Yaaay I been waiting for you Traci -Does a little evil voice- Now I'm happy.

But does it depend on HOW much you use it though? I've never gotton any burns , and my skin is perfectly healthy.

True , but its a natural chemical. So if lemon doesn't work for you leona what fruit do you use?

It not the point of it burning it causes your skin to become photosensitive meaning it can be burned and have a cutaneous reaction to the sun which can lead to hyperpigmentation or worse actual burns from the sun reacting with the citric acid all I can say is that if you choose to use it and not use sunblock your taking a chance.
