How to put on eyeliner?

Ok, so basically whenever I try to put eyeliner on my top lash line, I'll pull my eyelid closed with one hand and try to do the eyeliner with the other hand, but then once I let go, I'll realize that there's a space in between the eyeliner and the lash line. (where I thought I was putting the eyeliner!) I only have pencil liner, so maybe that's part of the problem, but how do you put on eyeliner for beginners? Thanks :)

Try to open your eyes and look down slightly.

You'll end up with wrinkles with that method but I do it too so I shouldn't be talking (though I don't wear makeup much anyways)

You'll have to tightline so just run your liner through your lash line
