Getting your hair dyed at a beauty school

I've been wanting to get my hair dyed an auburn/red-brown color. I've done it before myself with box dyes and it never lasts through even half a dozen washes. My friend got hers dyed at Empire Beauty School in Framingham, MA and it turned out well. I've heard that it's risky to get your hair dyed at beauty schools. Has anyone had any experiences or heard any thing about getting your hair dyed at beauty schools, particularly this one?
