So my sister bought me the Real Techniques Makeup Sponge dupe for the Beautyblender so she could get me to shut up about it. :P I've always used a flat top brush to apply my liquid foundation (which is Loreal True Match in Perfect Beige). I'm not sure how to use a makeup sponge? What is your technique with using one? Can you get the Real Techniques sponge wet? please let me know :) Thank you!

I have the same sponge! I love it. I wet mine and then rinse all the water out. Then I use my fingers to apply the foundation to my face first (this way the foundation doesn't soak up in the sponge) I blend it with the pointy part not the flat side. I clean it after every use and let it dry before storing it.

I actually just got this today for Christmas tomorrow but being me, I've already opened it to see what the texture and the overall feel of the sponge was because I was excited and so far so good, I haven't used it as of yet but will be trying it tomorrow. I've dampened mine to see how soft it'd be when it'd been wet compared to how it is dry and it definitely expands to a nice size and feels soft so I'm hoping it'll be alright for foundation. :)

You definitely should use it wet otherwise it will just eat up all the product. I wet mine, wring it out and then swipe it into my wet/dry powder foundation (aka pancake) and sort of dab and roll around on my face. There are a million videos on youtube on how to use a beauty blender. The dupes work more or less the same...
With creme foundation, I dab the foundation on first with my fingers and then use the blender to apply an even layer. I wet the sponge, wring it and kind of bounce the fat end over the places where the makeup is.
I never have used the blender for liquid foundations. I love my flat top brush too much and it's way faster.
Another great use for it (probably my main use, TBH) is as a clean up tool. Removes fallen eye shadow, mascara smudges, eye liner oopsies. Mine is usually full of makeup/concealer anyway so it wipes away and applies a thin layer of product back in that spot.
I love the pointed end for getting my concealer just right in the corner of my eye, since I have a very small eye and even my pinky finer is really too big to fit in there...

Well, I still prefer my flat top brush with certain foundations, but yeah, it's a good way to go, especially since the dupes cost about 1/4 or less thanwhat a good foundation brush will cost.
