Drink biotin, moisturize, and dont trim your tips constantly. What people say that trimmin make it grow faster is nonsense. Think about it .. Your hair grows from the scalp not from the tips there for having nothing to do with the ends of the hair. I havent cut my hair for 2 years ! And noww is when im trimming my tips myself. And my hair is super long now thanks to holding on the trimming for a while cause your hair grows an inch every month and normally people trim every month or so therefore making no progress what so ever in grow out their hair. So i say most importantly dont trim too often and keep it healthy to avoid trimming it. Check out my pics and youll see it worked for me

Stacy your absolutely right by saying it doesn't grow at the ends but at the root, however if your hair doesn't get regular trims it will break off just as much as it grows...your hair is still growing but it won't get any longer. I had a really short hair cut a while ago and was skipping trims and my hair didn't get any longer for two years then I had to cut off even more damage and my hair is now growing amazingly fast now. Brenna I agree with the biotin it's so great you can either get biotin supplements or a multivitamin with biotin in it to get all the vitamins you need. As for trimming goes: your hair on average grows a half inch per month so go in to a salon and mention your growing your hair out, tell them that you only want a quarter to an eighth of an inch off, also have them use thinning/texturizing shears, instead of regular shears, as these don't take off length but they do remove some damage. Also, take care of yourself: drink lots of water, eat healthy, daily activity, plenty of sleep. Keep your hair moisturized: do a deep conditioning once a week, do a cold water rinse after you do your regular conditioning that will lock in moisture, dont shampoo everyday if you have to try dry shampoo a couple days of the week. Limit heat styling, chemicals, harsh products, and teasing hair. Use protective products, I love it's a ten miracle and peratin products, also bed head stage four resurrection shampoo and conditioner are great. comb wet hair with a wide tooth comb, and brush from your ends and work your way up whenever your brushing or combing your hair. A ten minute scalp massage every day will get circulation to your scalp and it really does help! Try to resist putting hair up, even with no metal ponytails it breaks off hair also resist using hair clips.
These are tips I've gathered up from my mom and school (my mind been a stylist for 20 years and I'm in cosmetology school right now) so I really hope I helped and good luck :-)
