Try using a base coat and top coat and maybe a nail strethening serum that you can pick up at the drugstore. Try buffing your nails aswell so there's notning rough causing the the nail varnish to chip.

I agree with Caitlin. My favorite base and top coat is Seche Vite. Another thing that has helped me in the past, is after buffing your nails wipe them down with rubbing alcohol, it removes all the oils from your nail giving the nail polish the correct bond to your nail. It does dry skin out, so after your nails are painted and dried slather on a good moisturizer.

Put a bit of alcohol on a cotton round and wipe your nails before you put on any polish. My polish used to chip instantly but when I do that, the use a base and top coat it lasts so long it grows out!

I think in my opinion it has a lot to do with the brands as well formula x by sephora is the most long lasting polish I've been able to find I get a good 5/7 days without so much as a chip (:
