Your best option is to be getting a job at a makeup counter, Ulta, or Sephora first. I think you need to be 18 to work at any of those. Get you some experience under your belt, learn how to sell and get a feel for the industry. I started at a counter when I was 18 (literally, had JUST turned 18) then moved to freelance and then Sephora. Now, I'm going through the interview process with MAC. They definitely want people with experience, but if you can get a portfolio together of your work and present it to them when you apply, they are more likely to look at you. Plus, if you get to the Demo portion, you can show them you can do makeup. But definitely try to get a job now in customer service, cause at the end of the day, that's really the job it is. Good luck <3

I worked at MAC. I loved it! In spite of the extreme sales pressure to SELL SELL SELL. (That was exhausting). The gratis was amazing, the artists I worked with amazing, training was unbelievable. I worked for 2 years and moved on to work as a full time makeup artist at production studio. I believe all the training was a huge plus and I cannot forget to add. Hard work! Once your in for awhile you get hesitant to leave it...
It was the best thing for me but also the best thing to leave when the time was right.
Sorry to hear you were not treated well. Not acceptable in most MAC locations

Despite how poorly treated I usually am at their stores, I have an interest in working there. I am currently 16, and have a big passion for all things makeup. But then I always wonder if working there is worth it.
Anyone know how working there is like? Is it worth it? And how did/do you work your way up? Thanks! ❤
