How much to tip a Hairdresser?

Getting a hair color (lightened/possibly high lights, don't know yet) and cut and style tomorrow, how much is considered a good tip? I haven't gotten my hair done in a salon in years!

Around the holidays I go above the usual 15% for anyone that provides a service.

I always tip 20% but I usually round up to the nearest $20 if I'm paying in cash and don't have small bills. I just don't ask for change from whatever I hand them with at least a 20% tip...

Is that too high? =/ I never thought so before until reading this... I always made sure I tipped EVERYONE exceptionally well when I was a teenager since most don't and the habit stuck, I guess.
