I use a lip liner first then lipstick helps it stay on longer I like nyc ones there nice

Use a liner to trace the edges. Then fill in the whole lip with liner, helps it stay. Apply lipstick to bottom lip, roll lips together to transfer a bit of color to top lip. Apply lipstick to top and bottom lip, using slow careful strokes near the edges. Blot. Clean up edges with concealer if needed.

If you want to be really careful you could use a lip brush. I find personally that it gives me a lot more precision around the edges. I do have to build the product up more than I would just using it from the tube, but if you're going for precision then Lipliner and a lip brush can help.

I first outline my lips with occ anti-feathered liner then apply macs prep+prime lip before I apply my lipstick (:
