I tried Deborah Lippman, a vegan nail brand (except for cuticle remover which is non-vegan, but cruelty free), but didn't get much colour pay off. The nail polish seems super sheer.

Ladies and gents, what are your favourite vegan/cruelty free nail brands?

I'm surprised you didn't like Deborah Lippmann, I found her shades to be super pigmented and amazing with only two coats. But, try OCC nail polishes, you might like them, they come in amazing shades.

@Hannah W - Maybe it was the shades I tried?

She does have a collection of sheer shades, it's possible that you picked one of those. This is Deborah Lippmann's Harlem Nocturne, 2 coats :)

Okay, I actually try to only use cruelty free products, indie brands are great about not animal testing. Crow's Toes, Lilypad Lacquer, Lynnderella, Enchanted Polish, and A England are really awesome brands to check out! I also have a lot of butter London and Zoya. You can't go wrong with any of those!

Being vegan is a lifestyle not just a diet regime. You believe that animals shoulld be harmed or cultivated.

Ingredients like guanine (adds shine), silk and keratin can be artificial or animal-derived. Brands that advertise themselves as vegan are often just using it as a marketing scheme, but there are both indie and big brands that don't use any animal products in their polishes.

@ Alex P - While some may see the term "vegan" as a purely a marketing term, for vegans whose lifestyle is void of animal products, having a product labelled vegan definitly makes things easier. It is sometimes a painstaking process of emailing companies, calling customer service, and scrutinizing ingredient list before feeling secure enough that the product they are buying does not directly or indirectly contain animal products or involved animal cruelty. However, most vegan will still do research after seeing a "vegan" label on a product, but it definitely shortens the process.

@Hannah W - After seeing your pics with the colour pay off, I decided to try Deborah Lippmann again. I definitely think I tried sheer ones before. Gonna try "Single Ladies" and "Rolling In Deep".
