I love It Cosmetics CC cream. It contains an anti-aging serum, a sunscreen spf 50, a light moisterizer, built-in primer and gives a very natural med-full coverage. Also lover YSL Glossy Stain lip color. They feel light on the lips, give some shine and last longer than a glossy lipstick but not as drying as a traditional lipstain. Also (I havent tried them) IT Cosmetics has a few shadow palettes that have no talc in them so they are not drying. Mally & Tarte have some really nice cream blushes. I use a stippling brush so I don't disturb my foundation. Also like Mally's Poreless Face Defender which is a clear solid gel (comes in a compact) to set foundation & minimize shine & pores. I use it in place of powder.

My mom uses the Nars tinted moisturizer, which I also use. She uses the Urban Decay Naked basics for her eyeshadow, which she loves for its simplicity. You can of course wear shimmer, I'm not at all advising you not to wear shimmer, but it is more aging on the eyes than matte. That's why my mom prefers matte shadows :)

IT Cosmetics has a primer that helps reduce crepeyness in the lids, called Bye Bye Lid Lines. I'm really interested in trying it.
An alternative to the Naked Basics palette is Paula's Choice Nude Matte palette. $40 for 11 matte and 1 shimmer shadows, mixture of warm and cool tones. Wayne Goss collaborated with PC on this palette. Packaging looks boring, typical to PC, but it comes with a decent, full sized shader brush. (On my wishlist but haven't tried. It's been decently reviewed by Youtube-ers

I think powder, filling in your brows a bit (or just putting an eyebrow gel on) some mascara& lipstick looks classy is pretty easy :) I think mauve/muted reds would look nice.

What's a good non clumpy mascara. I was using Butterfly but I don't like it anymore ever since I got an eyelash curler it clumps.

Hey, Caryn! I'm 46! For me, luckily, I took care of my skin in my younger days; I was never much of a sun worshipper, and I never smoked and don't drink much at all, so that has all played out to my favor now! I have found some great cleaners and moisturizers, all good for your skin. You want to focus on maintaining elasticity, retaining collagen, and hydrating. Some of the Avon 40+ products are good; I also use a lot of DHC products, as well. Our skin has different needs, now, but if you do some research and know what your skin is craving, you'll look great no matter what age you are! ;-)
