I'm an African American, fair skinned, woman. My face has always been a tad lighter than the rest of my body, but as I get older, I'm noticing that the difference in color is becoming increasingly vast. Is there a reason for this continual change in skin tone and....what do I do about makeup? Continue matching my makeup to my face tone or match it to my body?

You can always go to a dermatologist first to make sure your skin isnt losing its pigment.
Other than that juat keep matching your foundation to your face but maybe add bronzers around the cheek bone area, the forehead, and chin to create an overall darker look.

my face is always lighter than my body lol I hate it but it's because you wash your face more often and the skin is more sensitive on your face so it can be a good thing

I would try to match it to your neck or half match it so that the contrast is minimized and use some bronzer so the lighter areas look highlighted and contour areas more closely match your body.

always match your foundation to your BODY!! you would look silly if you matched it to your face and then your face and body were different! kaitlin is right that it comes from washing your face, but i don't know if there are other reasons..

hey girl I have the same problem :/. I always get a foundation that matches my face though because I dont want to look unnatural in a sense but like the previous ladies said I would use bronzer in other areas. :) good luck

Well....my other issue is that I don't use foundation. I usually use a concealer and the. A tinted moisturizer or, more recently, Maybelline's BB Cream.

without using products, there's no way to make your skin match... most people have to do some adjusting to make their neck/face/body all look the same but even if you don't use foundation, you have to use powder or bb cream or SOMETHING otherwise you're just not going to be all the same tone. i rarely wear foundation either, but i use bb cream and powder. whatever you use, match it to your body.

I have had the same problem my whole life, and I exfoliate my whole body religiously everyday (my derm recommends daily exfoliation for me). I have also noticed with age the problem has increased, Iwas actually thinking about this really today even and was attributing it to religious application of spf on my face and not so hard core (read:rarely) on the body. My neck naturally blends into my shoulders plus I have a giant tattoo across my chest so that helps. Anyways, I match and blend into my neck. Very few people are exactly the same color head to toe, so as long as you don't look like Casper in the face and Aunt Jemima on your legs, your gonna be ok lol. when you start trying to matchy match everything to your body, you may end up having to wear too much makeup and/or in places you don't want to... save that for those very very special occasions :)

Have you tried glycolic acid washes an toners? Or any AHA? It brightens the skin, will dry it out at first but within two weeks you should notice a difference in tone an color..
