Hey all,
I was just wondering if anyone has dyed their hair when their roots have grown out A LOT.
I'd say only about 3 inches at the bottom is my black dyed hair. I was thinking if I dyed it brown, the ends wouldn't take and I'd get a dip dyed / ombre effect of some kind?
Or will the ends take since the dye on there is old?
Anyway, hopefully someone can help! Thanks.

I think it would be fine but you may want to leave it on just a little longer

If your ends are darker then no, it probably won't change the ends. color won't lift color. especially black.

The "virgin" hair will take and the previously colored hair (no matter the age) will not change when applying a lighter color. So yes your theory is correct Lisa. :)
