What do you think of leggings as pants? Do you you think people can wear them like regular pants, or do you think people should cover up more when wearing them?

I don't really notice what other people do most of the time. But when it's in a professional situation, it's not appropriate in my opinion.

I wear them as pants if my shirt or sweater covers past my bum. But most leggings are see through on the bum, I know in high schools you can see tons of girls' underwear clear as hell. I just avoid that.

I actually posted a similar question a few days ago and received some really interesting answers! Personally, I think leggings can be worn as pants, assuming they are not made of see through material.

I think they are fine as pants as long as they are opaque. But when I wear them as pants I wear a shirt that's a big long, that comes right past by butt at least.

Wait I always get confused when this type of subject comes up here on BL But isn't there Legging's and then there are leotard leggings (which are sheer)? I ask because regular leggings are in the pant family they're stretchy and thicker and not thinner or sheer like Leotard leggings. Also the fact that the two are different and I can't seem to understand the younger generation confusion between the two which in turn makes me confused lol because as far as I've known the two are different for different purposes in the daily wear.

^ I somewhat agree with alma. Leotard leggings and tights aren't meant to be worn as pants, while actual leggings are. I find leggings to be appropriate for casual wear, but not really for professional use. Maybe if you worked in a retail place but that's kind of it.

See through? No. Any other kind, yes.

I think people CAN wear whatever they want. It just depends on what you feel comfortable wearing. I don't really pay attention to what other people wear or judge somebody because of what they wear. Its all just personal preference. Wear what you'd like girl 😊 Its not up to anybody else to choose what YOU should wear 💜

If its a thick legging that doesn't show your undergarments then I have to problem with it. I wear them a lot when I'm being lazy or can't find anything to wear. As I've gotten older, I've been wearing them less and I do think that in certain more dressed up situations leggings arent the best. But as I've gotten older I've also learned that everyone should mind their own business so I try not to judge.

I don't understand how leggings or any leotard keep making you all confused leggings are not the sheer ones the sheer ones you can rock the long shirts with or wearing them if you Jazzercise lol NO big deal just wear them.Leggings or leotards shouldn't be this complicated. It's the world of Fashion

Exactly Alma! Leggings do belong in the pants category whereas the sheer tights do not :)

Lol I agree with Alma and Jacqlyn. I've seen very similar post recently and I'm not really sure why it keeps getting brought up. Just wear whatever you'd like to wear!

I think leggings are a blessing, comfort with ease in fashion is the cutest thing.Rocking a cute sweater or top with a long sleeve throw sweater and cute ankle boots, flats or what ever and a side pony or braid is the best lol all I worry about is makeup application and being on time.

I wear leggings they are like a gift from God especially when your a mother of a two year old they are so comfy and they don't fall down when you have to leap up to get something from your kid (true story lol) but I have had YOGA PANTS show my butt clear as day cause they were so thin of course I don't wear them anymore after my sister pointed out she could see MY WHOLE BUTT!! but anyway would these be not considered pants cause they were so sheer? I think it all depends on the fabric and I agree 100% with jacqlyn and alma.

I think the confusion is because especially if you have a booty the fabric stretches more and even though they aren't sheer you can see through them in some lights. And then since they are so tight and show every curve of your butt some people find it inappropriate

I want those regular leggings! XD But answering the question, I honestly don't find it my business how people dress. I'm punk and regular everyday dress for me was a shirt with half cut off showing my belly, a mini skirt, fishnets, and combat boots. I don't dress like that now lol but people always judged me. It was always "omg! I'd NEVER wear that!" and it's like.. Okay.. good for you. I never cared what people said and I don't think if anyone replies to this saying it's "inappropriate", that it should matter to someone who does.

I don't think leggings should ever be worn as pants - and I don't understand why but Americans are the only ones I've ever seen commit this fashion faux pau - leggings were meant to be worn as undergarments - they show every nook n cranny of your coochie and ass and most are also see through! It's not cute imo.

I don't think that picture is a fair example of how some wear the leggings that's just a example of buying pants 2 sizes to small which in turn is is just poor sizing.this thread is off the hook over leggings lol to much.
