It really depends on what you've been wanting. For me I pick stuff that I want but would never buy myself. Like a $30 mascara or expensive palette, and maybe if you wanted the beauty blender but can't bring yourself to pay that much ask for it.

I think this really depends on what you like. Not all things work for everyone. Personally, I would be really upset to receive a Naked palette or the Lorac Pro palette for Chanukah, because I would never, ever use it. I also like to think of the holidays as a time to be able to get more interesting or wild makeup, like the Urban Decay Vice 3 or the Kat Von D Star Studded palette.

I think there are also a ton of really cool gift options that aren't, like the Urban Decay lipstick set, or a bunch of Philosophy bath products.

Personally, on my gift list in terms of makeup, I have:
-a Glossybox Subscription
-anything from the Gucci Makeup website
-a BDellium tools brush set or a Wayne Goss brush set
-the Kat Von D Star Studded Palette
-a trip to the Bite Beauty Lip Lab in NYC (which I know is insane, I'm not keeping my hopes up for this)

I think that the holidays should include a little creativity, something you wouldn't normally ask for or think about =)

I asked for a lot of high end makeup. Here are some I asked for:
-naked 1 palette
-sephora lashstash
-sephora draw a line
-too face chocolate soleil bronzer
-you go gals benefit highlight set
-NYC sunny bronzer (yes it's drugstore, but ppl rave about it & I want to try it)
-Anastasia brow wiz
-benefit POREfessional
-Mac prolong wear concealer
-real techniques makeup applicatiors/brushes (again drugstore, but ppl always rave about them!)
-Mac lipsticks

Yeah, it's a lot, and I prolly won't get a lot of it, but it's worth asking for!
