Smokey eyes take time to master but you should definitely just try it out. Several post on smokey eyes have people's first attempts and then a ton of feedback on how to make it better.
Things to keep in mind:
What a true smokey eye is vs a gradient eye.
You need a couple clean blending brushes aside from your application brushes.
It takes time and you shouldn't become discouraged :)

I agree with cat. Also a tip to keep in mind the key is to just start with little product and build as you go. Another important tip is to blend really well. Use clean blending brushes to smoke out the product you're building up. Don't know if it makes sense to you reading but like cat said give it a try post some pics and we can all help you further! Good luck girl 😘

There are so many variations on the smokey eye. Doesn't have to be black. I will do a chocolate brown for a softer look. You can even do metallics. I think the easiest way is by using a cream shadow stick, Buxom has a nice one and so does Urban Decay. Drugstore: Rimmel London and NYX Jumbo Eye. Go from the upper lash line up to the crease- it can be as messy as you like. Because you then take a blending brush- I like MAC 217- to go over that cream and shape it and smoke it out. Then use the shadow stick on the lower lash lines and blend it out with a Q-tip. Lots of mascara finishes the look. Smokey is just a dark concentration of color on the lid up to the crease. You can highlight the tear ducts to contrast the darkness. I like to use a matte flesh tone on my brow bone.
That is just one way, the most basic. - I think cream is easiest for beginners. You can go over your cream with powder eyeshadow for more drama. I would start with this method.

Hi Kayla, I found when applying makeup on multiple faces for events we need to work with a quickness since time is limited and especially for a Smokey eye I do these steps..fastest way to do it is with a gel liner this helps not only reach high color it also makes it last longer as you over lay a matching color over the main base. You line your lid with the gel liner then spread over with two choices your finger or a small flat brush spread slightly over the crease, keep in mind this technique is what I like to call the prettiest mistake because you think your doing it wrong at first but you clean it up by blending upward with a nice tapered dome brush then to help ease the harsh finish edges (seamless finish) you use a transition color like for example cork from Mac keep in mind it doesn't have to be that brand but if you find a color close to it you'll need this color as this color will save your eye shadow life when in need for color ease lol :-)
