Pull back on shampooing your hair so much (the more you shampoo the more your hair produces oils which causes build up).
At first your hair will be really oily but over time your hair will love you for it.
And never ever put shampoo on your ends of your hair always oy on the roots.

Only shampoo your hair once or twice a week at the most, in between use conditioner on the ends and bring it up to massage into your scalp.

If you don't rinse conditioner thoroughly (which is good for keeping curly hair moisturized and free of frizz) it can dry and flake on your scalp.

I don't use dry shampoo, I have mostly medium to course hair...I DO NOT use conditioner on my scalp.

My guess would be that maybe your scalp is dry? Hmmm maybe try warm oil treatments on your roots and really massage it into your scalp and let it sit for as long as you can.
