My lips are darker on the upper lip but it is still two tones with the darker part on top. I never know how to pick the right lip color. I also prefer a more natural look.

I'm about to try out this stuff from MAC that is suppose to cancel out the pigmentation in my lips as well. I'm gonna use it Thursday. I used to use concealer but it blends in my lip colors which is not a cute look.

Carol H. I wish I could post the end result for you but I used a super bright pink lippie and my lips came out even....no pigmentation peeked thru at all. First I had to exfoliate my lips (I used a baby wash cloth and olive oil) then I applied a light touch of Chapstick (had that set for a few minutes) then I took my pinky finger and lightly applied product (a little goes a long way). I looked like a serious crack addict having a really bad day so my kids spent a few minutes laughing at me as I waited for that to set for a few minutes as well. Then I applied my bright pink lippie which was a matte. Love, love, love. For my first try I was really expecting trouble but it went well. I emailed a make-up artist I work with from time to time and I asked for an alternative (i.e. affordable product for you) and she suggested using a peach toned corrector or concealer that leans on the dry side as oppossed to moisture rich formula. She said it does just as great as the MAC Lip Erase. She mentioned that she has used the more affordable version on my lips (I had no clue) and it withstands the hot stage lights without melting into the lip color and creating a nasty mess. Some steps apply if you use the corrector version. She suggested a corrector that is light peach (leaning more on the pale and not the super orange side). I would check out Sally Beauty Supply or ULTA. :)

OK!!! My verdict is finally in. I had to try various lipstick shades in several combinations ( I actually included concealer....corrector and the MAC Lip Erase in Dim). And I wish I could post the pics but for some reason it takes forever to load them from my phone unto the site. First off with the three combinations I had to definitely exfoliate my lips and apply a light swipe of lip balm (beeswax based like Burts or Chapstick). Concealer was so,so...it worked best with my more opaque lipsticks but failed horribly with lipglosses because it melted in with the gloss giving it a nasty muddy look. Corrector was a step up but it did not play well with lipgloss either but performed well with my lipsticks. Now MAC Lip Erase was a totally different situation. Worked well with my glosses but had to be more on the opaque side than the sheer variety. And it didn't melt in with any of lippies. Overall, I find the corrector to be a great buy if you're on a budget (plus it can double as an eye brightener as well) but the texture has be on the dry side (pan a definite plus)...for reference I used Bobbi Brown's corrector in Peach. MAC Lip Erase is great if you can afford it. It doesn't do much when under sheer lip glosses but for opaque lippies is performs great. My only annoyance with using both the corrector and lip erase is that if you eat anything oily best believe that you will have to do the entire application process all over again (minus the exoliating step). I'm never one to refresh make-up in a bathroom mirror while out and about but I found myself having to do so on several ocassions and it made me feel so freakin' self-conscious.lol. Overall, I love both the corrector method and the MAC Lip Erase.
