Hi I'm really curious as to what color shampoos are. Like purple shampoos and blue etc.
what do they do and what are they? I'm not that into hair so I barely know anything.

Purple shampoos will help counteract yellow/brassy colours in bleached or blonde hair, blue shampoos are more so used to remove orange tones.

And either will do nothing on dark hair.

My hairstylist told me not to use shampoo with any color in it.

Mostly to remove colors. Typically older ladies with white/grey hair use the purple shampoos/conditioners to remove the yellowing of their hair and tips of their hair caused by smoking and/or pollution. It's not a shampoo you use every day but something you use once or twice a week. There are a bunch of different brands and they pretty much all work the same, I haven't found one yet that is better than the other, but I always end up recommending the one from Matrix to my clients.

Wella sp silver blond shampoo is amazing!!
but yeah it wouldn't do anything on dark hair x
