As far as hair colour goes, I don't trust hairdressers much to be completely honest; just had a lot of bad experiences with them not listening to what I'm saying or what I want and they just do whatever the heck they like. So; as far as hair dying goes, I like to think I'm fairly good at it considering I've never been "taught" I've always just taught myself and I've always had a good outcome without being disappointed when I do my hair by myself. As for cutting, I'm currently looking for a new hairdresser but because of past experiences I'm still hesitant. Though to answer your question, I agree that sometimes people don't need to be in a salon to be good at what they do, I trust whoever I feel is creative and to me, I look someone that appeals to me like they'd listen and know what they're doing, and some hair salons aren't doing that. So I'd go with the at home person, give it a go and see what happens. But I'm still an "I'll do it myself" kinda person.

I don't care if their salon is in the middle of a highway, If they know what they're doing and they're talented, I'll go to them haha

My luck has always been a thousand times better when I go to someone who works out of home... But he worked in a salon as well but we preferred going to his house anyways.

My hairdresser is a home business, and she was my neighbour. It was great because you have a good relationship from the ongoing appointments with the same person which helps with trust and understanding.
I sent my hairdresser a picture of my hair and told her what I wanted and when I got there she had already picked out my colours and showed me which she picked and I turned out amazing! It really is important to have a good relationship because you know they will listen to your needs and deliver!

My mum gets her nails done by a lovely lady who works from home and her nails always look lovely. But the one thing that I love is that they've built a good relationship and can talk for ages about stuff, unlike someone you had just met who works from a salon.

Honestly I feel a bit weird and judged in salons, all the girls are chatting to eachother and giving people funny looks and don't paticulary listen carefully to your needs.

This makes me scared to go to hair cuttery to get my hair cut today lol I don't know anyone who works at home only my cousin but she lives in south Carolina and I'm in maryland lol and as far as makeup goes I do everything myself I've even did my sisters makeup for my other sisters baby shower and then my cousin saw how well I did and asked me to do her makeup for a job she had to do that night and she loved it

In my honest opinion, if someone's going to mess up my hair, it might as well be me lol. The best haircut I had ever had (before I started doing it myself) was from my neighbor who was a retired hairdresser and used to work from her home. Almost every time I went to a hair salon I would tell them what I wanted (for example, long layers) and I would end up with some shredded shag haircut with MAJOR split ends that I didn't have before. I think I prefer the home atmosphere to the salon though because at salons they are trying to get it done quick so they can move on to the next customer.

I don't think its an issue for me. I've gone to 2 at home hairdressers as well as an at home nail tech. its not about where they work for me its about talent. so if someone recommends an at home hairdresser/esthetitian/etc.I don't mind. I'm just someone who knows what they're doing. a salon can be great but I mean one isnt better than the other. if you want to start doing cosmotology at home, I believe with the right contacts and marketing, youll do great!
