Are you sure all your previous makeup is off before hand? Maybe taking warm water and a towel and placing them on your eyelashes will remove everything and relax them (kinda like using a straightener)

I've tried that and it doesn't work. I have tried using a heat curler but used it upside down if you understand, I've tried putting mascara on backwards and it doesn't work either haha.

If anything I would say look down, tilt your head back but don't completely close your eye if that makes sense. I don't think you even need anything.
