I went to cosmetology school here in Pennsylvania back in 2011. How my school was set up I had 6 months in a classroom working mannequin heads to gain practice. Then I moved on to senior level and that was 3 months in the classroom with 3 days out on the salon floor and 2 days in the classroom. Then my last 3 months I was a super senior and that was everyday Monday-Friday (and some Saturday's) from 8am to 4:30pm on the salon floor taking clients and building my clientele. Beauty school was fun while I was in school. After I graduated I worked as a cosmetologist for about 2 1/2 years and then went to a beauty supply store and worked my way up to assistant manager and got put into training for manager almost immediately. I then quit before becoming manager as I realized the hair industry was no longer what I wanted as a career. I saw it more of a hobby, so that's what I do now. I do hair for friends/family and a few new clients on the side. Just have an open, positive mind when starting. It's a very cut throat program, with a lot of girls and guys who think they're better then everyone else.
