I recently noticed my face has been looking grey in pictures. I think this has to do with the shade of my foundation. any advice on this issue?

Could be a number of things...does your foundation have SPF? If so, this could be the cause. If not, you may need to change the shade you are using.

It's the shade or mainly the powder you are setting it with....experiment with some drugstore foundations that I recommend would be set it with same skintone powder and make sure you use moisturizer before hand

spf causes that grayish effect? I use Revlon photo ready I been using it for two years. the reason why I like it is because I have super dry acne prone skin. it doesn't dry out my skin like other foundations. what shades would u all recommend?

You may need something with a more pink undertone

Revlon colourstay whipped foundation has a pink undertone, I've heard. So maybe give that a go? Or ask some of the makeup people in sephora, they could probably hrlp

yeah I should try that. I tried the whipped foundation and it did not go well with my skin at all. it looked cakey :/

Revlon Photoready has a lot of shimmering particles that reflect light. Foundations like that can make you appear washed great in person, but ghastly in photography which is stupid that they market it as "photoready." Sunscreens always make me look ghastly in pictures too which is why I have separate foundations that have SPF for during the day and ones without SPF for night time or whenever I know I am going to be taking pictures. If you aren't ready to buy a separate foundation, you could easily just use a matte face powder with no SPF or light reflecting particles to set your foundation when you know you are going to be taking pictures to make your skin look more real. My MUFE HD powder always has a way of making appear white in flash photography as well, so if you use a loose powder, try to find one with a tint, especially if you are dark or warm toned. I am on a caffeine high right now so please excuse any rambling =P

lol no you're fine Im enjoying your rambling :). I can't use a matte powder foundation because my skin is super dry. I must use a liquid :/

Also, Merwa, does your skin have that gray cast in person? If it does it could be that you are using a cool-toned foundation on your watm skin which could leave you with an ashy cast.

no I have never noticed it in person.!!

I know! I am even combination oily and I HATE almost all pressed powders. It's probably a combo of the SPF and the "light reflecting particles" then. What kind of coverage do you like?
Dec 24, 2012
Merwa A.
I like medium to heavy coverage because I have acne scars :/

Get it expertly matched and make sure you get the right undertone.

Thanks, I have been to hell and back with my skin. It's a plethora of diff. stuff all the time. =P Most of the time I use MUFE's Face and Body or their HD foundation, and I wear Neutrogena's Skin Enhancer a lot too. I dont know if you want a semi-matte or a dewy finish, but as long as you can find one without shimmer and little to no SPF, you should be fine for night time. NYX makes a really good HD foundation that I just got like a month ago that has medium coverage and dries to a nice satin finish. It was only like 15 dollars, didnt cause me to break out at all, and has no sunscreen at all.
