I'm not a huge believer in buying sets. I've got a mix of brushes that work for me including Trish McEvoy, EcoTools, ELF, MAC (from 1991 when MAC was not in the US yet), Sephora and Smashbox.

For black eyeshadow try MAC, Smashbox or Make Up Forever.

I recently bought some brushes/shadows from Morphe brushes. So far I love everything that I purchased! Highly pigmented shadows and very affordable too. Plus their brushes are quite nice and inexpensive. The only downside is that their shipping takes forever.
