this sounds really horrid but I'm getting pretty paranoid. I have gradually been getting a dark ring around my neck like a collar. its like a tidemark and its getting darker. I shower everyday and exfoliate regularly. its also starting to happen in my armpits. like a grey colour. I'm light medium tan with olive undertone. I don't use tanning beds or fake tan. I'm getting pretty embarrassed about it. if anyone's had anything like this I'd appreciate some input, but if not just pretend you didn't read it!!

I'd recommend seeing a dermatologist. Are you expecting ? Had something similar in my first pregnancy

No I'm not expecting. dermatologists aren't cheap to come by privately in the UK. NHS docs in my experience are rubbish at referring. think I'm gonna have to see the Doc about it like, just wondered if anyone else had experienced it cos I hate going to my doctors...

I'm a med student and it sounds like it could be several things ranging from a fungal infection to possibly a vitamin deficincey. I would suggest going to your general physician first because its more likely that they can address the issue without you going to the derm. By the way the internet is such a bad place to get medical info. I hate going to the doc to but it beats freaking yourself out from getting info off the net. Good luck! I hope it gets resolved!
