I have a free sephora makeover and I want to use it; although I have a few concerns. I know that the associates don't need previous experience to work at sephora but I don't want to get someone who cakes up their makeup and just offers me some expensive products so I could just buy them.
I was wondering how the process works. Do you get to choose your own associate or do they match you with one
Thanks ladies!!

Well Sephora trains their employees in makeup application so you probably have better luck with them than any other counter or store. When I was in school we had a class trip to a store and an associate did my makeup for a demo and she was great. She was a store manager but she was demonstrating what their employees have to do when someone comes in as well. She didn't cake up my face and everyone in my class, including me were thrilled with the result. She went above and beyond. I wish I had taken a picture, I don't know why I didn't. Obviously each person is different and some people will be better than others at what they've been taught, but overall anyone who is working the makeover area has been trained in some way by the company. If there's products you want to try, ask them to use those so you don't feel like they're pushing products you don't want on you.

I am a cosmetologist with 10 years in the industry and I am also a MUA at Sephora. Not every Sephora cast member gets hired and is allowed to start doing CMA's (makeovers). I went through months of
training and had to be certified by a member of the Sephora pro team. The certification process is pretty rigorous and all of our skills are evaluated.
