Are the foundations that youre buying mattifying? It sounds like you need a hydrating dewy-type foundation, or maybe even a bb cream, since you seem to have pretty clear skin. A bb cream doesn't require primer, or setting spray. I think maybe youre using too much product on your face.

I would message miss Jacqueline and get her two cents. She is a makeup goddess and an expert when it comes to foundation and its application :)

Okay I had the same issue going on and it seemed that no matter what foundation (drugstore or highend) my skin still looked horrible. So I quit using foundation... Well at least liquid foundation. It made a huge difference in my skin and it quit breaking out like it was. I also started taking better care of my skin (dry and sensitive like you) and I bought a Clarisonic which helped tremendously. This is my skin care routine-
1) Remove makeup with Neatrogena wipes.
2) Wash Face with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser (this stuff helped with my dryness so much!)
3) Clarisonic with Murad Cleanser or Avon Acne Cleanser
4) Murad Clarifying Toner
5) CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion
***note, I only do this at night and in the morning I skip the Clarisonic.
Makeup Routine (this is followed by the skin routine)-
1) Prime with L'Oreal Magic Lumi Primer (makes my skin looks like it is glowing! I love this stuff)
2) Apply Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer with this Sephora Brush. I only apply where needed (blemishes or dark circles)
3) Merle Norman Mineral Powder Foundation applied with Elf's Kabuki Brush. I love this powder the only problem is you have to go into a Merle Norman Store to buy it but I really love it and its about $25. Other good mineral makeups I recommend is Tarte's or Bare Minerals (I like Tarte's better)
And that is what makes my skin look flawless! I seriously didn't think it would help cover anything but it makes my skin look great. I am all the time receiving compliments on my makeup and what I use. I tried BB Creams and just about every "hydrating foundation" or just foundations in general and they all looked okay at first but then turned cakey and bad. But since doing what I do now, my skin looks so much better.

I highly recommend lancome teint miracle, tinted moisturizers, and bb creams to you! If you need more coverage, I would use a concealer, and maybe a setting powder. :) to give your skin its own luminescence, try exfoliating 2-4times a week, and use a brightening serum.

I think this is one for miss Jacqueline if she reads this post I'm sure she can help you - or you can go into her beautylish profile n ask her she gives the best advice when it comes to proper foundation application.

I used to have that exact same problem, no matter what foundation I tried or how much I moisturized my makeup always look cakey and dry, like little scales would show up. What really helped me was using a chemical exfoliator. I use pure 5% glycolic acid every other night and it has helped the texture of my skin soooo much. I can wear just about any foundation now without it getting too cakey.
