What's actually bad for your nails is the nail tip that is glued on. My advice for healthy nails is to find a small salon that doesn't use drummels, MMA free products & that offers fiberglass nails. My nails were thin and easily broken until I got fiberglass. It's super thin, lightweight & helps your nails grow. Mine are so long everyone thinks they're fake now!

And there are different types of gel! Some are more like acrylic so they will make your nails weak when removed!!! You have to make sure they are using a "soak off gel" like shellac or OPI gel color and Gelish!!

Gel nails are the best!!! I'm a nail tech and everybody is loving the gel!! They will not damage your natural nail If you soak off the correct way!!! If you light break the seal with a file before soak off it shouldn't more than 10 min to soak off!!! Long wear and high shine awesome for any occasion!

When you get gel nails done do they first apply acrylic (the powder) and then gel? Or strictly build the nail up with gel?

Gel is great for long wear! But if you get bore easily and want to change your nail color frequently go with normal nail polish with a great base and top coat, preferably quick drying to avoid smudges

gel nails from a salon and at home gel kits are a different ball field. the expensive salon gel nels you would get done professionally are very damaging but they are good for nail biters etc. At home gel polishes are not damaging if you remove the polish correctly.

Yes and no. Yes because they look great and last long. They don't really do damage on my nails that I've noticed yet. And no because taking them off is a pain in the bum. It took me forever to take mine off last night. 😐

Holy cow! I paid 15 bucks!!!

That sounds awesome! Maybe I'm just going to bad places! It's also super expensive to get them done where I'm from like $60-70 on average

Yes! So pretty! And better for your nails than acrylics. There are some beautiful designs out there! For Halloween I did candy corn :)

I had them for quite a few months and loved them. I miss them! When they take them off though you're nails are a little weaker than before, but once they grow out they're fine.

No all I use is gel and my nails aren't affected, but to take the polish off you HAVE to soak them in polish remover for a LONG time
