Hey ladies,
I have a problem. I am white as a sheet. Now when most people say that, they're exaggerating. But I am not. I need a healthy tan ASAP! Summer's here and I'm trying to get a nice sun-kissed glow before I go on vacation in a few weeks.

I was wondering if any of you knew of some good tips to get nice tan, healthy skin. For example, how long should I be laying out for? Should I wear sunscreen, tanning oil, etc? Any other tips welcome as well xx

oh, by the way, I don't burn very easily. In case that matters haha

If you want it to be healthy, use spray tans or self tanners. Cancer and premature wrinkles aren't worth a tan.

Please make sure to wear sunscreen still as it does not prevent you from tanning, it just protects you from the harmful rays and skin damage!

Also the Hempz brand of self tanner is awesome! It doesn't smell bad or stain your clothes and is under $20. I liked it better than St. Ttopaz.

I appreciate the health concerns, but I believe sun is healthy (in moderation). I would never use a tanning booth, but I believe sun tanning is not harmful as long as you don't go crazy with it.

I have a severe Vitamin D deficiency, and really do NEED to get more sun. I was just wondering if there were ways to help me tan faster naturally so I can look healthier asap (right now I really am sickly pale)

They have tanning oils at the drugstore that are supposed to help tan. When I was a sun worshipper I used those. I know that there's lotions too! Some even have instant bronzers so that kinda helps enhance your tan also. And some tanning lotions carry a little sunscreen in them! And I don't but very easily either but whenever I would lay out and tan, I did an hour each side! And don't shower right after you tan either! You basically wash your tan away lol. I don't know 100% if that's true but a girl who works at a tanning salon told me so I never do!

I used to tan a lot but with all the cases of melanoma and even someone I knew ( who was obsessed with tanning!) got melanoma so that scared me to stop tanning.( also because I realized I burn more than I tan lol) so I've just been using the jergens natural tanning foam. It helps me get a nice looking tan without harming my skin. Just don't tan a lot! And if you do just hit the spray tan!😘

Get a tanning lotion with a higher SPF in it, you'll get tan and be safer with it.

Honestly I've always had the same problem! I also know that tanning can cause major skin problems! This product works great and I don't even need to step out into the sun! I'd say I applied it twice a day for the first four days and saw great results! After that I decreased it to once a day and now I put it on once every other day! My color looks great! And there's absolutely no skin damage'!

You mentioned having severe Vitamin D deficiency...are you taking meds for that? And if so I would just let that kick in before sunbathing. I'm just getting over treatment for skin cancer and the sun is no joke. My husband can't tan to save his life and he is Casper the Ghost in winter and he just uses self tanners. Cancels out the risk.

I have a lotion that's supposed to help you get tan faster, and it contains tyrosine. It's called La Biosthetique methode soleil activateur de bronzage. It's basically a melanin activator that makes your skin not burn as easily. Maybe check with your doctor about the tyrosine content. Anyway, I'm pretty skeptical that you'll find it, but your doctor can definitely help, because he knows your issues and how to promote healthier tanning.

I haven't found a sunless tanner that I actually like...I've started using the jergens bb body and this does have a sunless tanner in it although its the slightest bit it does work to gradually tan and I experience no streaking or orange tinge...I've noticed within 3 days the difference on my arms my legs however are very white and it was taking a little longer but I now see the difference on my legs as well...if your patient then this definitely works.

Your right jess sun is healthy with moderation...I work all night sleep all day lol barely get sun nowadays but need it bad it feels and is healthy for you...as far as a tan what I've been doing lately is self tanners gives you a sun kiss glow without having to go to the beach although you must reApply every several days to keep it going or what not but I wish I had timeor even energy to lay out on the beAch atleAst.2/3times.a week.

There is no such thing as a healthy tan. A tan, in and of itself, is your skin's defense mechanism against the harmful UVA and UVB rays. As for the Vit D thing, I recently combatted that myself. The sun doesn't create Vit D. It merely synthesizes Vit D. If you don't already have a supply, the sun alone won't help. Embrace the pale!! Skin that isn't sun damaged isn't prematurely aged! That being said, a good zinc-based sunscreen everyday provides great full-spectrum coverage!
