I don't think so. Wear what you like. This past year, me and my friends started dressing up for school and now many girls have been doing the same :)

It all depends on what you pair it with. I've worn sweatpants and a tee to school. But I've also worn a lace dress paired with my converse/vans. I think the shoes can casual it up and vice/versa.
