I just use olive oil and it works really well. Just make sure you rinse them really well afterwards.

@Miss Jackie-How do you use parian spirit? Do you pour the solution in a small cup/bowl and then soak the brushes?

If you don't care about the cost go with Parian Spirit. If you want to stay on the cheaper side try this: (in an empty 1 gallon water jug) 8 cup of water, 1 cup of white vinegar, 1 cup of dawn blue dish soap, 1 cup of baby bath soap, 1 tablespoon of olive oil) shake it up. I keep this under the sink in my bathroom, pour some into a container in the morning after I do my makeup, swirl the brushes around and then wash them with cool water and put them to dry. quick and easy. pulls the makeup right out.
