Sunscreen for hair is typically in a spray bottle like a hairspray. I don't think you need to spray it on hair, but you should spray it on your scalp if your part or any part of your head is exposed to the sun. I find it to be neccessary with the concerns of skin cancer or just getting a painful burn on my head! To apply, just spray it anywhere you see skin on your scalp.

I use a spray version from Clarins...more so for my scalp than my hair.
