I personally really do not like Mac's, I find the interestingly colored ones (read: not-neutrals) to be really dry and chalky in texture. However, I do absolutely love the Urban Decay eyeshadows. They're smooth and silky, and they're intensely pigmented. I love the way that they apply, and I think they're completely worth the money. However, if you do pick the Mac eyeshadows, buy the Pro Palette refill pans and simply put them in a Z palette or something similar, as they're cheaper that way.

I absolutely adore UD eyeshadows :) I have 4 of their palettes. on the other hand I don't care for MAC. Their products never wow me and they also test on animals.

I've never tried any mac but I love urban decay shadows! They're so pigmented and apply smoothly, I wish I had more!

I love both a lot. I personally don't find Mac eyeshadows to be "dry and chalky" and I love the extensive variety of colors. They are not the smoothest eyeshadows out there, but I do find them to be pigmented and long lasting. The Urban Decay shadows are about the the same for me, just a bit more buttery in texture.

I like both. What Sarah said about the variety of finishes is right on point. UD has a great offering of glittery shadows but if you want to tone it down to even a shimmer they don't really have that. I find M.A.C's great to work with, nothing chalky about them.

Mac actually doesn't test on animals. Their lipsticks are wonderful and their eyeshadow is alright. I really like UD eyeshadow.

MAC unfortunately does test on animals as of the last few years or so!
like Bree said, UD is GLITTTTTTERRRRRR! Which is fine sometimes but I will probably NEVER go out with glitter all up in my crease lmao. 🙅🙅🙅 MAC has a lot of awesome mattes which Urban Decay is seriously lacking with! However all the matte Urban Decay shadows I have, I love :)

I absolutely agree with Jacqueline H. UD shadows are over talked. Building up shadows , the payoff wasn't really that great , there shadows were harder for me to blend to.
