I was somehow chosen to do my nieces makeup & hair, for her luncheon Friday morning. only thing is I've never done makeup on anyone else. I need tips and some advice would be nice. keep in mind that she just turned 14. also she has bad acne. I'm nervous but don't want to let it show. help my fellow beauty babes.

I know how you feel! My sister wanted me to do her makeup for christmas, and I am not a makeup artist at all! I had trouble with angling my brushes to apply everything. If you have a chance, I'd practice with her the day before or someone to get use to the brush angle. I couldn't do eyeliner or mascara, but I didn't trust myself nor did she trust me. lol
And if all else fails, you can both do your own makeup at the same time. Do a step-by-step on how to apply foundation, powder, concealer, blush, mascara, and eye shadow (stick with one color). She'd be proud that her aunt taught her how, and feel great that she did something herself! It'd be fun to set up makeup dates with her in the future, too! :)

That's actually a great idea!! thank you sooo much for being the only one to answer my post, sad that someone has to post about pointless stuff to get hundreds of answers instead of actually getting help with something that is important. & I get one answer. thank you again. it means a ton.

No problem! I was actually thinking about doing a makeup date with my friend, since she can be "girly" again! I even bought her a few makeup items, too! ;) Sometimes it's like that with this site, but we all stick around anyway lol

Girl don't stress, she's only 14 so her makeup isn't expected to be dramatic :) your makeup looks nice in your picture btw.
Maybe watching a few YouTube videos on the subject will make you more comfortable. She will be impressed no matter what you do :) I'm sure she looks up to you

Putting makeup on other people pretty different from doing it on yourself. In my experience with people who aren't used to wearing much makeup, doing the eyes is the hardest part because they flinch and blink a lot so be prepared to adjust whatever you have planned for her eyes as you go. Focus in simply making her skin look great, so a nice primer to help smooth out the acne and some concealer. My friend who doesn't wear makeup was especially impressed by my shaping of her eyebrows, winged liner and highlighting using concealer set with ambient light powder. I'm not an expert at makeup, it was just the simple things that made a big difference to her.

Well I'm definitely not doing anything crazy, she's 14. but I thought I can just cover up her blemishes. she's a boy so she's definitely new to makeup and hair. lol I couldn't sleep last night because I was on YouTube, watching videos on it. lol thanks guys.

We'll goodluck girl, I suggest using a color-correcting primer to tone down some redness if she has bad acne. Hope all goes well :)
