My hair refuses to be styled!

I hadn't styled my hair, i.e., curled, waved or straightened my hair since August! Quite awhile I know, but all in hopes for healthy/ undamaged hair, and now my hair is quite healthy and extremely soft, so today I decided I'd curl it, which ended up being a disaster! I use my Chi straightner to curl and it's been excellent in the past, and I did it exactly as I always have. :( Any one have a reason as to why this happened and what I could do so that this doesn't happen? Now that my hair has gotten longer and to where I want it I'd like to style it every once in awhile :/ :b

you could try straightening it with an actual curler or wand or even go on youtube and watch a hair tutorial on headband curls and get natural beautiful curls!
