My hair is just plain brown right now, I usually dye it black all the time. but it's fades out after 2weeks.

There will not ba a longer lasting blue than manic panic, it's the best unnatural colours out there. of course, you will first have to bleach your hair, which is quite tricky with dark brown.

I did my hair dark blue before with a brand "jazzing" in a little pink bottle. It worked great! And their unnatural color selection is great.

Veggie dyes (unnatural dyes) are very specific to your hair. What works for others may not work for you, it's trial and error. My personal favorite is special effects, but I do love manic panic. Some people hate it though.
I also hated directions and punky colors, I found they faded out completely within a week on my hair while manic panic lasts 4-5 weeks and SE around two months on my hair.
It also depends on the color. In general, brands have their "best" colors. For special effects, it's the warm toned (purples, pinks, reds, oranges, etc) that seem to last longest on the majority of people. For manic panic it's definitely the cooler toned like blues and greens that seem to last best. I dyed my hair a mix of atomic turquoise and bad boy blue, and it lasted a long time. I don't recommend ion color if you plan on going back to a natural color, it usually stains and nothing can get it out. (I have a permanent mint green stain on my hair from it, as soon as I'm blonde again it's green no matter how many times I dye it) and it will be harder to get a normal looking natural color.
I would also start washing your hair less. Three years ago I washed my hair everyday, now I wash it once or twice a week (I still shower, just don't get my hair wet) and my hair is much healthier. It also doesn't get oily anymore. :)

And for lightness of the color, do you plan on bleaching first? That'll determine how light you can go, since light colors won't show up. I'd suggest googling the dyes on unbleached hair. :)

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

How did you stop your getting so greasy after a day? I shower everyday (I rinse my hair too) and wash every other day.. but every morning the roots are a little greasy..

Honestly it just takes a few weeks of dealing with greasy hair. The longer you can go the better, so if you're just sitting at home, or just going to the grocery store and not out with friends/important things don't wash your hair. Dry shampoo can also helps, it absorbs oil. But what I did was during the summer when I had no school I went 2-3 days without getting my hair wet, (it feels really gross the first few weeks, but just put it up in a bun and you won't think about it) then after a few weeks, I went 4-5 days without washing my hair. Eventually my hair got used to it. What happens is every time your hair gets washed you strip the natural oils, so your scalp basically freaks out and produces a whole bunch of oil because it knows in a day it's going to happen again. But if you train your hair to go 3-4 days without washing away the natural oils, it produces oil in a slower rate that takes days to look as greasy. So if you don't have anywhere to go, or you're just running a few errands throw your hair up in a bun and don't wash it till you have to. Still shower though haha. But honestly all you need is to get to the point where you wash it every 3 days. Every second day is better than everyday but you'll notice a difference in your hairs softness if you go longer. I wash mine once or twice a week, and it's perfect.
