Makeup has no rules : lower lashes lined only.

Everyone is always going on about how lining the lower lash line only closes the eyes, makes you look tired and overall it's a big no no. So after years of doing that, just like hundreds and thousands of girls in India do, I decided to take the advice of makeup gurus and stopped using kohl only on my lower lashes. But then I saw the photos and it looks awful on me. Now I am back to kohl only on lower lashes and everyone's always telling me I have beautiful eyes. That just proves that there are really no rules when it comes to makeup.

Thank you aime and em. I think most Indian and middle eastern girls look great with kohl on lower lashes. For years I've worn just that, no shadow and no mascara and it just works. I guess I fell prey to 'trends'. Lol.

I had a client from India and she always lined just the lower lash line in black. she went pretty heavy with the black, but it always looked so stunning on her. I never saw her with out it. I took a hint from her and started ddoing it every so often. I just love the look, I don't tthink it makes eyes look smaller either. I also.like it with bright colors

Everyone I know lines their bottom lash. I'm African American or something. ;-) I think its a brown skin girl thing..
I'm the contrary. I learned as a youngster my eye line is already there (this is just me not everyone) so instead if I line my lips ky eyes look lined. even my own mother has thought I had on eye liner when its just lip liner..
you rarely catch me with eye liner unless I'm doing a serious eye look.;-)

blk eye liner on that bottom lash is definitely necessary.. ;-)

I think you have a point there Naomi I think that most darker skin beauties already have beautiful dark lines around their eyes making it appear they are wearing eyeliner when they are not - especially with black lashes sometimes it's not necessary to line your eyes at all since it's suppose to give the effect of a fuller lash line - I think it works in some cases but I have seen other cases (especially in the winter when I'm more pale) when it makes my eyes look droopy and some other beauties may experience the same thing - and I have found that lining my upper line thicker than the lower line helps my hooded/Asian eyes to look larger but that's just me.

I am extremely pale and for years I have been lining my lower lashline with black kohl liner, and I think it looks beautiful on me, it really makes my blue eyes pop.
