is it true old bedsheets can cause zits?

I know dirty bedsheets can, but I'm not sure about old ones. That being said, I'm at home on winter break from college and at school I've noticed my acne is better, and at home it's awful and the only thing that's changed is the place I'm at since I've kept my routine the same. Maybe my old pillowcase (at least 10 years old! Ick!) is contributing to the problem.

Well not bed sheets since the bed sheet is on the body aspect. You need to wash the pillow cases every week or change them since the oils from face and hair get on it.

I wonder if maybe washing them doesn't get everything out sometimes, and maybe there's some residual oil that builds up?

Dirty sheets can definitely cause breakouts as the same with anything dirty that touches your skin. A wash should fix it but if they are really dirty you could try an allergen cycle if your washer has it. It washes for about an hour 45 in hot water. If that doesn't clean then I don't know what does, haha.
